Post Graduate Diploma in Media Management
Objective: The programme in Media Management is deeply rooted in the understanding that today’s media enterprises require a different breed of management experts. Because the business of media is fundamentally different from that of conventional products and services, there is a paucity of managerial talent specifically attuned to media organizations. Currently, most of the recruits to managerial function of media are from B schools. However, specificity of media practices calls for people who have a thorough knowledge of different media and their economic and cultural aspects.
This includes circulation management, media planning, space/time buying and selling, ratings, production budgeting, detailed knowledge of IPR and media laws. In areas like technology procurement and inventory management, managerial functions will be highly effective with a sound understanding of media platforms. In case of HR functions, the skills set required for facilitating creative people working in media is quite different. The programme will make possible a new look and perspective to managerial functions in media.

Features: The requirements and content of the programme will be determined and fine-tuned by the industry needs. Experts from media houses will enrich the competencies in each area taught in the programme. The programme will equip media practitioners with the exposure and expertise custom-made for media enterprises. The idea in formulating industry oriented content is to facilitate students to occupy positions in production and marketing management of media industries. The media spectrum for this programme is broad enough to include music industry, internet marketing, e-commerce, and print and publishing media management functions.
